Barbie's Family Child Care

Menus

Barbie's Family Child Care is a participant in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program.  Child Savers is the agency which oversees my participation.  I have eight weeks of menus which I use on a rotating basis.  The following links will take you to each of the eight menus.  While I follow these menus closely for the most part, I do occasionally make some changes.  For instance, if the child care is closed on a Monday, I may move the Monday meals to Tuesday and drop the Tuesday meals.  I will change a meal from time to time to go along with a theme we are doing.  For example, on Backwards Day, we have pizza and peas at 8:30 a.m. for our Backwards Day Lunch and then eggs, pancakes and 2 types of fruit at 11:30 am for our Backwards Day Breakfast.  Sometimes I may substitute one fruit for another fruit or switch other items.  I will also change some foods for a particular child for various reasons.  For instance, a child may be allergic to some foods or a young toddler may not be ready to eat some foods (i.e. peanut butter or raw carrot sticks).  The menus for the week are always posted on the bulletin board above the cubbies and the main dish for each lunch will be listed on the calendar that comes with the newsletter.  As always, please let me know if you have questions about the menus or any particular food.

As you can see, I offer the children a variety of foods every week.  Each breakfast consists of a grain product, a fruit and whole milk.  Lunch consists of a protein, a grain, a vegetable, a fruit, and whole milk.  Afternoon snacks consists of at least 2 items from the different food groups:  protein, grains, fruit or vegetable, and milk.  For example, an approved snack would be apples (fruit) and milk (milk) or goldfish crackers (grain) and juice (fruit).
